An imitation overstruck on a follis of Constantine I
Lot 4916
Constantine I, 307/310-337. Follis (Bronze, 22 mm, 3.10 g, 12 h), a contemporary imitation of an issue from Siscia, uncertain mint, after 318. Laureate, helmeted and cuirassed bust of Constantine I to right; around, traces of legend. Rev. Two victories holding inscribed shield; between them, altar; around, traces of legend. Cf. RIC 53 (for prototype). Traces of overstriking, otherwise, very fine.

This interesting imitation was apparently overstruck on an official follis of Constantine I.
